This internationally recognized complex provides for the research, education and treatment of diabetes, the largest program in the U.S. This facility is one of a very few free-standing research/treatment centers in the nation focused solely on diabetes and has become an international resource center for the clinical treatment, education and research of diabetes and is visited by medical doctors around the world and specialists seeking education and training. The facility focuses not only on the disease, but also on the life and lifestyle of the patient, the family, and the community. The design includes a community resource library, demonstration kitchen, and vegetable garden where people can learn about the disease and its relationship to nutritional habits.
