Tiffany Long Promoted to Partner & Recipient of the SABJ's 40 Under 40 Award

The partners at Marmon Mok were excited to announce the promotion of Tiffany to Partner. Tiffany has focused her career on healthcare design, and currently serves as Marmon Mok’s Design Team Project Manager for the 700,000 SF University Health System’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital, one of the largest healthcare building programs in Texas. Just a few short weeks later, Tiffany was the recipient of San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award. Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing (FAME) / Bexar County Workforce Training Center

 

This facility is the result of three years of planning and several workforce initiatives to help advanced manufacturing industry partners solve critical skill gaps. The Workforce Training Center, operated by Texas FAME will provide scarce skills training. The center will encompass approximately 30,000 SF and is intended to be highly flexible to adapt to the evolving needs of workforce training, and will include classroom and hands-on instruction.

The WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) credential denotes expertise in the WELL Building Standard and a commitment to advancing human health and wellness in buildings and communities around the world. As we transition back to the office, Marmon Mok takes priority in our employees health and wellness and we are committed to ensuring our employees thrive in the space they work.

When our partners aren’t architect-ing, they’re archi-talking, and this fall has been busy for conferences and speaking engagements.

  • In October, Tiffany Long teamed up with Jhiah Chang of ZGF and Sam O’Connor of JE Dunn Construction to discuss how we’re working toward improved women and children’s health and hospital facilities design at Texas A&M’s Fall 2019 Architecture-for-Health Visiting Lecture Series.
  • In October, Mary Bartlett spoke at the 2019 National Association of State Facility Administrators Conference in Hartford, CT about how the new TxDOT Stassney Campus will be a government workplace of the future.
  • In September, Mary Bartlett spoke with her fellow panelists on “Leaders of the Future: How to Identify, Nurture, & Retain Them” at the CMAA 2019 National Conference & Trade Show in Orlando, FL.
  • In September, Greg Houston gave the keynote for THSADA on the Northside ISD Gymnasium and what athletic directors can expect when undertaking a new athletic facility.
Cindy De Hoyos Achieves EDAC

Continuing education is essential for our architects to remain some of the best in the business. We’re proud to announce Cindy De Hoyos, Senior Associate and member of our Healthcare team, has achieved her Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification or EDAC. This exam’s five sections test evidence-based design in healthcare, the research process, the pre-design process, construction, and occupancy. Congratulations Cindy!

Stephen Souter Retires After 50 Years with Marmon Mok

Marmon Mok hosted a retirement party at Club Giraud where we honored Partner Stephen Souter, FAIA, who on May 1st celebrates 50 years at Marmon Mok. He has left a lasting impression on the clients, teaming partners, and employees he has worked with over the past five decades, and the respect and admiration we all have for him filled the air. Numerous long-time friends and colleagues traveled from across the country to be here for this momentous celebration. Steve will be missed greatly, but his legacy as an architect and community leader will live on. He will spend his free days with his beautiful wife Jill traveling the globe and visiting friends and family across the country. CONGRATULATIONS STEVE!

Steve Souter Receives AIA San Antonio Legacy Award

For 48 years, Steve has been an active and essential part of the architecture community. He has upheld a professionalism and integrity that is second to none in the profession of architecture. Steve’s contributions to Marmon Mok are innumerable and he continues to work with a passion and dedication that is rare to find in any practice. Anyone who has had the pleasure to know him and work with him is a better person because of it and the practice of architecture would not be the same without Steve Souter. Congratulations Steve, we cannot think of someone more deserving of AIA San Antonio’s Legacy Award.

Frost Tower San Antonio Opens

As Interior Architect, Marmon Mok designed the interior finish out for 15 floors of the new Frost Tower to be occupied by Frost Bank. All floors contain curated art collections and custom furniture made from live oaks that were harvested from the property. A contemporary design aesthetic is applied throughout each floor, with a focus on integration of modern technology and full utilization of the abundant natural light. Last week we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate with our client at their official opening; thank you for letting us be part of your history!
