Developed as a collaboration between the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and the City, the Schertz Aquatics Center is located in the center of the Schertz Municipal Complex, including the Schertz Family YMCA, Schertz Library, Schertz Area Senior Center, and Veteran’s Plaza. The Aquatics Center unites the four buildings on the site, creating a cohesive community. The Natatorium houses a competition pool, leisure pool, locker rooms, spectator seating, splash pad, outdoor courtyard, and amenity areas. The aquatics center also serves as a training and competition facility for local schools.
The aquatic center exterior, inspired by its surroundings, utilized materials compatible with the other municipal buildings. The recreation center’s fluted tilt-up concrete panels form was matched by using a more cost-effective and energy efficient fluted EIFS panels.
This is the only indoor aquatics facility serving the City of Schertz and the only space that offers residents access to year-round aquatic activities. It not only enhances the quality of life for residents, but provides additional practice and sporting opportunities for students.
