Marmon Mok was selected to design a replacement for the Bill Walker Natatorium for North East ISD. Replacement of the Walker Pool Facility included demolition of the existing pool structure and replacement with a new natatorium. Also included was demolition of the existing pool support facilities and replacement with a new 2-story pool support facility including lobby, administrative areas, coaches’ offices, wet classroom/team room, athletic locker and dressing rooms (with public access), elevated bleacher seating (750 capacity), public restrooms, general pool storage area, mechanical space, custodial support areas, and an enclosed physical connection to the Josh Davis Natatorium on both levels. The in-ground concrete pool was widened to 25 yards and utilized a pre-fabricated, metal panel pool, wall system. At the project forefront was improved comfort and functionality of the facility using motorized louvers and roll up doors designed to support natural ventilation.

As part of this phased project, Marmon Mok also designed the renovation for the Josh Davis Natatorium, located adjacent to the Walker Pool Facility. The Josh Davis Natatorium scope of work included replacing and upgrading the HVAC system for the pool area, dehumidification systems, high-volume, low-speed ceiling fans, direct and indirect lighting, programmable LED lights, translucent wall panels, vestibule/airlock, a dry land dive training space, upgraded lockers, and aesthetic renovations serve to further modernize the facility.
