Discover the transformation of the Schreiner University Edington Sports Performance Center, one of the oldest and most storied facilities on campus. This building has played a vital role in the university’s athletic landscape for decades, serving various functions, from hosting principal sports events to accommodating intramural athletics. However, with the evolving needs of modern sports, the Edington Gymnasium was ready for a fresh chapter.

As Schreiner University prepares to welcome its new football program in Fall 2025, the Board of Trustees identified the Edington Gymnasium as the ideal candidate for a transformative renovation. This historic facility is poised to become a cutting-edge football training center, addressing immediate and future athletic requirements.

The renovation will breathe new life into the 17,500 SF Schreiner University Edington Sports Performance Center, which includes a 12,000 SF gymnasium, 3,000 SF of locker facilities, and 2,500 square feet of support spaces. The project consists of an exciting addition of 7,300 SF dedicated to state-of-the-art strength and conditioning spaces, creating a specialized training environment tailored for the new football program.

This transformation is not just about sports. It’s about community. In addition to supporting Schreiner’s athletic ambitions, the updated facility will continue to serve the student body with a gymnasium designed for intramural activities. This vibrant space will be a hub for community engagement and recreation, bringing the campus together in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
