The new Texas A&M University-San Antonio recreation center spans approximately 22,300 square feet and is designed to enhance the campus experience. The facility features three main spaces: a multi-purpose gymnasium, a state-of-the-art weight room, and fully equipped locker rooms with showers and toilets for both men and women.
The multi-purpose gymnasium includes a 94-foot competition basketball court, two 84-foot recreation basketball courts, and a competition volleyball court with two additional “cross” courts. This versatile space will host special events and be the competition venue for future intercollegiate basketball and volleyball games.
The 3,550 square-foot weight room design includes a north-facing glass wall that maximizes natural light and offers views of the campus paseo, creating an inviting atmosphere for students and visitors. Positioned for high visibility, the recreation center is easily accessible to those entering campus via University Way or walking from parking lot three towards the heart of campus. The main entrance is strategically located directly towards the center of campus, making it a prominent feature for all who visit.
Built with future expansion in mind, the Texas A&M University-San Antonio recreation center allows for seamless growth as the campus community evolves. Cost-effective construction methods were employed to deliver a high-quality facility while optimizing budget efficiency.
