The Camp Hubbard Campus transformation balances the demolition of outdated structures, the renovation of existing facilities, and the construction of new, state-of-the-art facilities to create a modernized campus that can adapt to evolving workspace needs. On a site owned by TxDOT since 1963, the updated campus environment is functional and efficient while also fostering a collaborative and vibrant workplace.
A comprehensive, five-phase approach allowed for continuous campus operations during construction. Four existing buildings were demolished to make way for a new 144,000 SF office building, consolidating 12 of the 14 TxDMV Divisions. The new office design encourages flexibility, collaboration, and hybrid work, featuring large open office spaces and centrally located meeting rooms, support spaces, and amenities. On the first floor, large employee and public amenity spaces create a welcoming atmosphere, including dining services, wellness and fitness facilities, a large board hearing room, and public lobby functions.
An existing 5-story, 110,000 SF building was renovated to accommodate the remaining two TxDMV Divisions and served as a transitional space during demolition and construction of the campus. To ensure a seamless transition with the new building, a covered pedestrian walkway directly connects the entrances of both structures.
