Wurstfest Marktplatz

New Braunfels, Texas

After a devastating fire swept through the original Wurstfest Marktplatz building in 2019, the Byrne Construction/Marmon Mok design-build team was selected to design and build a new Marktplatz to go up on the festival grounds in New Braunfels as a replacement to the original. These replacements and renovations included the design and creation of a new Marktplatz (36,000 SF) and the repair and renovation of the original Wursthalle, which sustained smoke and heat damage but was still considered structurally sound following the fire.

The new Marktplatz will be in use during Wurstfest a ten day event dating back to 1961 celebrating German culture, catering food and merchandise as a community fundraiser. The site design features German timber framing and “post-and-beam” construction called Fachwerk invoking the feel of a German village throughout the Venue.
