The IIDA San Antonio City Center held their annual IIDA Imagine That! event with a fun twist this year in masquerade. Our firm is excited to have been awarded the Best Large Building Award for the One Frost Westover Hills Office Building. This new building is designed to honor their employees with and meet the initial goal to have “a place you want to go, and work.”
As a representative for the American Institute of Architects San Antonio, Marmon Mok Partner Angel Garcia has been involved in the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Group for the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan. The purpose of the SA Tomorrow plans are to guide future investments that prepare the City of San Antonio to accommodate the projected growth of 1.1 million new residents by the year 2040. We would like to congratulate Matt Carrell for receiving his Texas Architecture Registration. Matt has been with Marmon Mok for over five years and has worked on various projects including the One Frost office building. Currently he is working on Baylor University Martin Residence Hall Renovation.

The growth of Clarity Child Guidance Center continues with the completion of the Mays Gymnasium and Day Treatment Center, the second of four buildings in the campus expansion. Commemorating this special occasion, a grand opening for the new 15,800 SF building was held with an address from Fred Hines, Clarity President/CEO, and the ceremonious ribbon cutting led by Clarity senior leadership and Board. Marmon Mok has welcomed two new staff members in the past few months: Autumn Smalley, a recent Interior Design graduate of UTSA, has been working with our healthcare practice on Methodist Hospital Pharmacy Renovations and Nix Hospital. Lee Williams has over 15 years of experience in project administration including large school renovation projects, he is currently working on Eisenhower Middle School Renovations.
As one of the largest districts in Texas and with a rapidly growing student population, Northside Independent School District has been in need of a New Sports Gymnasium. The construction progress is now 35% complete and will soon be a premier facility at the Farris Athletic Complex for district sporting events.

“We are proud to unveil the City’s single largest capital project to date, which was accomplished on time and on budget,” said City Manager Sheryl Sculley.
The newly transformed Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center was dedicated with a public opening and celebration on January 26, 2016 moving San Antonio into a higher tier in the convention market with spaces and amenities for larger events. Mayor Ivy Tayor, City Manager Sheryl Sculley and Convention Sports and Entertainment Director Mike Sawaya had high praise for the Hunt/Zachry/Populous/Marmon Mok team’s expertise, creativity and performance in meeting the fast-track schedule.
Construction on the 750,000 square foot, $325 million addition began in February 2013 and includes a new entrance and presence on Market Street, direct connection to the River Walk and Hemisfair Park, the City’s largest indoor public courtyard lobby for socializing and relaxing, as well as a second floor outdoor reception balcony overlooking Market Street. Features include 270,000 square feet of new exhibition space, 70 flexible meeting rooms, an 85,000 square foot multi-purpose space and a 55,000 square foot Stars and Night ballroom, the largest in the State of Texas. A major part of the transformation is technological to accommodate tech-savy guests and meeting rooms with the latest touch-sensitive LED screens and equipment. The Convention Center’s west wing will be demolished in March making way for a new entrance and connection to an expanded Hemisfair Park and Civic Lawn.
