In 2012, Marmon Mok and Populous were asked to perform a facility assessment study on the Alamodome. The intent of this study was to evaluate the ability of the Alamodome to accommodate the NCAA Final Four, NCAA College Football National Championship and National Football League. Following this report, Marmon Mok and Populous assisted the City and San Antonio Local Organizing Committee with specific proposals for the Final Four and NCAA Football Championships. The City of San Antonio won the bid to host the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four basketball championship. Our design-build team is now working on the renovations, which includes numerous improvements including a widened plaza level concourse on east and west side, a 50,000 SF concession expansion and renovation, a 24,000 SF press facility addition, updated locker rooms and enhanced technology and scoreboard systems.
