The new regional headquarters for the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas now serves the San Antonio area and nine surrounding counties. The building is designed to embrace the spirit of the Girl Scouts (“Character, Confidence, and Courage”) and to maximize sustainability. The building is nestled into the woods on an undeveloped site and takes advantage of views and engages natural features of the site. Includes training facilities, a Girls Scout store, large meeting/assembly room and a cookie distribution center for the organization’s well-known fundraising program that doubles as an indoor camping room. Although the Owner did not seek LEED certification, it nonetheless was designed with numerous high-performance and “green” strategies.
“The contemporary building reflects the timeless value and traditions of Girl Scouts and appeals to today’s girls and volunteers. The thorough process undertaken by Marmon Mok insured the first class leadership center/headquarters we are enjoying today.”
